~3 minutes · App Store Connect or Google Play Console access required

Connect your app

Apps Rated connects to both the Apple App Store and Google Play via their official APIs. The connection is read-only and does not require sharing your login credentials. You simply authorize the connection from within your developer console.

For Apple App Store: You'll need an App Store Connect API key with "Apps" and "Sales and Trends" roles. If you don't have admin access, ask your developer or app store manager — it takes them under 2 minutes to generate.
🍎 App Store Connect
  1. In Apps Rated, click Add App → Apple App Store.
  2. Enter your Issuer ID, Key ID, and Private Key (.p8) from App Store Connect → Users & Access → Integrations.
  3. Click Verify Connection. Apps Rated confirms the connection within 10 seconds.
  4. Select your app(s) and click Start Analysis.
Google Play Console
  1. In Apps Rated, click Add App → Google Play.
  2. Click Authorize with Google and sign in with your Play Console account.
  3. Grant read-only permission when prompted — we only request the minimum needed.
  4. Select your app(s) and click Start Analysis. Historical data loads within 90 seconds.

Configure your workspace

Before diving into your data, take a few minutes to tailor Apps Rated to your app's specific context. A well-configured workspace means more relevant insights and less noise from day one.

  • App category context: Tell Apps Rated what type of app you have so sentiment benchmarks are calibrated against the right industry norms — not the app store average.
  • Custom keyword glossary: Add your product-specific terms — feature names, internal terminology, competitor names — so the analysis engine understands your vocabulary.
  • Priority markets: Select the countries or regions you care most about. Apps Rated will weight its insights and alert thresholds to your core markets first.
  • Release calendar: Connect your version release history or input it manually. This lets Apps Rated correlate rating changes precisely with specific builds.

~3 minutes to orient · Your full analysis is ready

Read your first dashboard

Once your app is connected and analysis has completed, you'll land on your main Overview dashboard. Here's how to get oriented quickly so you can start making decisions with your data right away.

  • The Rating Trend chart at the top shows your rolling average rating plotted over time, with version release markers overlaid. Start here to understand the trajectory of your app's reputation.
  • The Sentiment Score panel breaks down the emotional composition of your recent reviews. A healthy app typically shows 70%+ positive sentiment.
  • The Top Topics grid shows the themes your users write about most — ranked by review volume and colour-coded by sentiment. Red topics with high volume are your highest-priority action items.
  • The AI Insight banner at the bottom of each section is generated fresh daily — summarizing the most important thing you should know right now, with a recommended action attached.
First thing to do: Click into your highest-volume negative topic. Read the five most recent reviews in that cluster. You'll often immediately understand a product problem that no metric alone could have surfaced.

Set up your alert system

Alerts are how Apps Rated keeps you informed without requiring you to check the dashboard daily. A well-configured alert system means you're never caught off guard by a rating drop, a competitor surge, or a sudden volume spike.

  • Rating drop alert: Trigger when your rating falls by 0.2 stars or more within any 7-day window. Deliver via Slack + email.
  • Review surge alert: Trigger when review volume exceeds 200% of your 30-day daily average. Useful for catching viral moments — good or bad.
  • Negative sentiment spike: Trigger when negative sentiment exceeds 25% of reviews in any 48-hour window. This is your early warning system for bugs and regressions.
  • Weekly digest: Schedule a Monday 9am delivery of your full weekly analysis summary to your whole product team's Slack channel.

~1 minute · Unlimited team members on all plans

Invite your team

Apps Rated works best as a shared intelligence layer across your product, engineering, and marketing teams. Invite everyone — there's no per-seat pricing to worry about. Different roles can be given different levels of access.

Admin Full access — can connect apps, configure alerts, manage integrations, and invite other members.
Analyst Can view and interact with all dashboards, run custom report ranges, and export data. Cannot change integrations or billing.
Viewer Read-only access to dashboards and reports. Perfect for stakeholders and executives who need the summary without the controls.
Recommended practice: Add your lead engineer as an Analyst and set up the Jira integration together. The best insight pipeline is one where review themes automatically flow into your engineering backlog — closing the loop from user voice to shipped fix.
