While I love Hulu, I’m on to you and your attempts to increase ad revenue. Every third episode the video fails to load AFTER the ad has played just fine. So I have to exit the program, restart it, and sure enough watch another ad. It happens so consistently that it’s clear you’re not even hiding your attempts to boost your ad quota at the viewer’s expense. Always crashing. Coming up with error messages. My WiFi connection is great so this app is pretty frustrating. Constantly error messages when your in the middle of watching something then good luck getting it to play again. Any suggestions for a better live tv app would be greatly appreciated. I enjoy the shows this service provides but the app quality is awful. I’m continually dealing with error codes and crashes. The app is very buggy. I love the shows but there is a constant connection problem when using the app. I had this problem in the past so I left and used other forms of entertainment. I thought by now this connection problem would be addressed and fixed so I came back because the shows are amazing up to date but sadly it’s still the same. I love Hulu, but the app is... VERY frustrating to connect to a chromecast. I will start a show and put my phone down (the phone is the “remote”) and then go to change it once the show is over, but I have to disconnect and reconnect over and over. I don’t have this issue with other streaming services.
Also, not app related, but I’m frustrated by the fact that their commercials are suddenly twice as loud as the shows I’m watching. That’s a sure way to get me to MUTE the commercials entirely and not pay attention to them at all. 👎🏻 - ghxstbat

Incredibly Frustrating Gestures & Ad Rewatches (1/5)
There are so many incredibly annoying gestures, which I presume are meant to be helpful, but end up forcing me to rewatch more ads. It could be by design, but it’s also made me consider stopping my subscription to Hulu.
First is the “swipe down to exit your current video” gesture. This is really unnecessary. There is already a very easy to access close button, and we do not need a speedy method of exiting out of shows and movies. It does not save us time, especially when you factor in accidental exits and the ~50/50 chance that we’ll need to watch a 30 second ad before we’re allowed back to where we just were.
Second is the “hold down and swipe on the screen to fast forward or rewind” gesture. Especially on an iPad, touching or holding the screen can be very common, and our videos shouldn’t be continually interrupted by unintentional touches. You have the skip back buttons and those do the trick. If you feel those aren’t enough, Hulu could employ a similar gesture to YouTube. The “double tap to skip back” or some other method which isn’t usually unintentionally done.
My third complaint is more so directed at Hulu’s ad management system. The platform doesn’t seem to remember if you’ve just sat through 90 seconds of ads; if you rewind just a little too far and cross the ad dot marker again, then you’ll sit through 90 seconds of ads all over again. Again, this is probably by design, because I’ve used far less sophisticated video management systems than Hulu which do have a way of remembering which ad zones you’ve already watched.
Can you improve your platform and focus on user satisfaction above all else? User frustration does not lead to loyal subscribers, especially in an industry with so much growing competition. - achacko714

I love the variety of shows on here but there are a few things that I have a problem with
I am paying to watch tv and movies on this network and you are still making me watch ads?? I don’t understand what the advertising is all about I don’t get that on YouTube TV, Netflix, or Amazon, but Hulu continues to force ads and it drives me crazy. If I find that Hulu has a show that another network has, I’ll switch to the other one just to avoid the several ads I have to watch for something that I bought and am paying for
When I go back to watch a show that I recently watched, it is never shown in the correct order. I would prefer it to be in the order of most recently watched to least recent but it appears to be in the order that Hulu prefers, not the user. All I want to do is go back and start back where I left off but then I have to slide all the way through to the bottom of my recently watched tab just to watch again. Sometimes it won’t even show up there, so I have to go back and search for the show. This is easier to do on the phone (but still inconvenient) but on a TV searching for a show is just time consuming. This is bigger deal than it would seem, especially since Hulu’s competitors seem to have no issue with these types of things.
Swiping out of a show
When I’m watching something on my phone, accidentally swiping the show away is so frustrating. Swiping down allows you to leave the video for those of you who don’t know. And while it seems easy and quick, I’d prefer to just click the X button or possibly a back arrow in the corner when I tap the screen to pause/rewind/fast forward/etc.. Accidentally swiping out happens to me a lot and it’s frustrating because I have to wait for it to load the content again and so it isn’t as easy and nice as you’d think it is.
I also don’t like how you can either rewind 10 seconds, or fast forward 30. It just seems like it wasn’t completely thought through. It just seems like it would make more sense if it was 10 seconds both ways. This way, if I accidentally rewound 20 seconds, I can correct it back to 10. I understand that 30 seconds allows you to move through the show quicker to catch up to a part, but that’s what the sliding part is for at the bottom of the screen. It feels like this wasn’t totally thought through properly.
While I love using Hulu and they offer lots of shows that it’s competitors do not, they seem to lack easiness and logic when it comes to user experience. I feel that if these issues were looked over and fixed, then I would enjoy using Hulu more and would pick it over other things like Netflix, YouTube TV, or Amazon. - Hannah_122_
Crashes and hanging sessions (2/5)
I don’t typically write in, but I’m driven to distraction with the server connection issues. I faithfully reset my modem and router and devices, cleared history etc etc and I can’t get through an episode without a crash part way through. I do not know if it is server issues or issues with the internet carrier, but I pay a premium for this service — however not much longer without resolution. Hulu has a somewhat good selection of things to watch but very limited and their prices are ridiculous. Right now they’re charging me $60 a month (I’m paying for the live tv + no ad). Someone tell me why I’m still getting ads?! I looked it up and Hulu can only cover no ad on some movies and episodes. Which is stupid cuz your charging me like $7 a month for no ads. If you just get regular Hulu your limited on the stuff you can watch and it’s not very good selection. Take my advice and don’t get Hulu it’s a waste of your money. The iPhone app for this service is constantly giving me an error message "P-DEV320" every other episode I watch. It doesn't matter how many times I close the app out completely or how many times I've restarted my phone (5 in the last hour and a half) it keeps happening. I have a really annoying issue besides the fact that after a few episodes of tv shows it does say there’s a connection issue on my side. Which is not true. And I see there are others with the same issue.
But my biggest issue is that I keep getting subtitles on every movie and tv show I watch. Even though I Tuen subtitles off the still come up and I have to keep shutting them off. This is super annoying! When are you going to fix these issues?

I’ve been trying and trying to get an answer out of someone, literally anyone, about what the heck is going on with my “connection error”. First off, I don’t frickin have one. I have contacted both my internet provider and my cellular provider. Both say my connection (download speed and latency speed ) is completely fine. Well within the range of streaming high quality videos. But Hulu doesn’t seem to work on any front for me. It will only let me watch some shows, other shows it’s will buffer and tell me I have an issue with connection. No one from Hulu has given me an answer, they’ve just told me that other people are experiencing it as well and that was it. They never once said if anything was being done about it. Or if I can do something else to help myself. I NEED HELP. I don’t want to cancel my subscription but if I can’t use the service provided, why would I keep it? - 13lzamar
